Lost in the Mountains

(not actually lost)

Arguably I live in one of the most beautiful places in the world. There’s a lot of them and beauty can be found anywhere so don’t get all “No you don’t, Ali” “Mountains and nature SUCK, Ali”… we’re all friends here. I’m reminded by the beauty that surrounds me every single day on my way to and from work and basically whenever I go out of my house. I was driving into Calgary yesterday for a work thaaang and I finally stopped at one of my most favourite views that I’ve ever seen with my own eyeballs. Thanks to this blog of mine and other electronic resources I get to share that view with you, my pals. I’m sure there’s a technical name for this lookout but it’s about 20 minutes into Kootenay National Park from Radium and it literally takes my breath away every. single. time. Enjoy!

I’ve mentioned it a few times before, so I’ll mention it once more: moving from Vancouver wasn’t easy. It was a bit of an abrupt move because when I got to where I live now, I didn’t know if I’d be able to stay due to a job and what not. Well I was able to get a job and a half (aka contract work) within 5 days of being here. After struggling to find full-time work that didn’t suck in Vancouver, I had to see the move as a blessing in disguise and just go for it. The first few months weren’t easy, especially because I’m not much of a winter sports kind of gal – I’m working on it. But summer, oh sweet, sweet summer, you’re wonderful. In the past couple months I’ve fallen in love with golf and am embracing lake life and the beauty that surrounds me. From necessary dips in the lake over the weekend – hello 37*C – to just hanging out by the fire chatting with good friends, this is a life a can live. Work problems seems to trivial when you enjoy where you live. So thank you to my boyfriend who has shown me a part of the world I might not have gotten to experience due to my sometimes stubborn personality. As much as I miss my Mom and Dad (and my Sar Bear), life is good here. Plus, there are these things called phones that allow long distances to feel short and non existent. I hope you had a wonderful weekend.

PS. HAPPY BIRTHDAY CANADA. YOU ROCK.

life lately, according to my iPhone

Let’s just say I’ve been busy the last couple weeks and it has made blogging an afterthought. The biggest issue preventing me from sharing my oh-so-exciting life with you is that we don’t have any internet in our new home. Oh, you want to hear what I’ve been up to? My wonderful family came to town for a few days, we moved in to our new home and out of our old one during family visiting time, I moved offices at work, and my dear old pup Jasper was put down a couple weeks ago. My tear ducts are empty. So with the lack of internet, which you can listen to me complain about on twitter , I haven’t really been able to peruse the internet for cool links. As far as drinks? There happened to be a beer fest my work was hosting, so, we shall leave it at that. INstead of Links ‘N Drinks, I’ll just share a few Instagram photos from the last couple weeks. Oh, and did ya hear? Instagram does videos now? Life is complete. I do feel bad for the vine app though.

Happy Father’s Day and Happy Birthday to the most loving man I know. I’m lucky to have you as my Dad.

A little part of where I live.

A housewarming pie.

To the best little puppy a girl could ask for. <3

You make unpacking much better.

Werk Werk Werk.

A glimpse of the Beer Festival.

PS. Stay safe Calgary. The rain is wreaking havoc on my part of the world as well but nothing like what is going on there right now.

So, June already, hey? WHERE DOES TIME GO?!

A couple weekends ago we took a little trip to the family cabin and I “vlogged” some of it (vlog = video blog). Hope you enjoy!

Life Lately, According to my iPhone

No Soapbox Sunday post today, unfortunately. We went to a wedding last night and it’s safe to say we had a pretty good time. A headache and sore feet in the morning usually mean a night of non-stop, terrible dancing – my favourite. We had a lazy today and actually enjoyed the beautiful weather that has arrived with a walk down to the lake and a lounge in the sun.

So, to make up for my lack of a Soapbox Sunday post, here’s a few photos via my iPhone.

A very chilly first dip in the lake.

A photo from a few years ago before we started dating.

Housesitting lets me hang out with cuties like this!

Currently reading and always laughing.

The first stop on a 40 hr trip to Vancouver – Sushi… mmm.

Getting back to YouTube :)

The most handsome little boy – my pup Jasper.

So there you have it, folks! I hope you have a fantastic week. I can’t believe it’s Sunday night already. Has anyone been able to workout 3-day weekends yet? I’d really appreciate it. Kthxbye.

Hey Pals!

I do love me some YouTube and while I may not be the best at editing (yet), I still really enjoy recording, editing, and posting videos. My favourite part though are the responses! I love to make internet friends and support friends who like to blog, twitter, YouTube etc. It’s just good ol’ fashioned fun, if you ask me. Wait, were you asking me..?

(awkward pause)

So, here you go… a video of me! You get to look at my face and listen to me chat about things. Yay!

…Right?

It’s been quite the month for me and I am looking forward to what February has to bring. I came back from vacation knowing that I’d be going on another 1/2 vacation very soon. Long story short, the 1/2 vacation turned into a full-time job and moving to the interior of BC. I wasn’t lying when I said it’s been an interesting month.

Vancouver, you’re lovely. But you can be a bitch sometimes when it comes to being a young woman trying to start a career in a fairly general field. I’ll be back, I hope. Maybe not, who really knows? BUT, the point is, I’m giving something and somewhere else a shot for a while. Sometimes the most unexpected changes can be the most welcome ones. I start the new job on Monday so I’ve had a couple weeks of exploring the area and reading Netflix (let’s at least try to be honest). So… here’s a few photos from a hike up the HooDoos. Photos are courtesy of my Boyfriend ;)

I’ll tell you one thing about this place, it’s incredibly outdoorsy. So, I’m going to need to learn how to be a winter outdoorsy gal… it’s a struggle, but if Britney Spears got through 2007 then my goodness, I can learn how to snowboard, skate, snowshoe, cross-country ski…. and the list goes on.

Cheers!
