Summer, where art thou?

I’m talking about the season of Summer but if you’re super sweet like me then yes, I’m also talking about Summer Roberts from The OC aka Rachel Bilson (guys, please still be my friend). So, I’m not sure about where you’re living but where I am summer is no where to be found. I’m looking forward to a couple things in the next couple weeks – moving (yay!) and a huge visit from a bunch of family – so I’m going to need the sun to start shining pretty soon.

I have been more active on Pinterest lately, although I didn’t think that was possible, pinning any outfit that is remotely summery. I don’t claim to be a fashion blogger, but I do wear clothes and I have some pretty bossy friends in the fashion world (you ladies know who you are), so I’d like to share a few outfits I’ve been drooling over to get a little more in the summer spirit.

PS. I ordered Insanity so if I fall off the face of the planet it’s because my body aches and I can’t even move my fingers to type.

A friend down here in our tropical paradise bought a toy which allows driving on the sand and other fun things. I got to go for a little ride to a not-so-secret “Secret Beach” (not-so-secret in that everyone knows about it and it’s not often you have it to yourself). Still though, it’s lovely.

(please excuse the incredibly phallic image in the above photo – shit happens)

You drive along the beach until you can’t any longer and take these castle-like stairs up and down and all around these cliffs. After almost falling a few times (no alcohol was consumed before this adventure, by the way) we finally came to this little beach surrounded by cliffs, pelicans bobbing up and down in the waves, and an odd sense of freedom. I think being enclosed by cliffs with nothing else in sight but sun and water would bring about the most wonderful afternoon of doing absolutely zilch and enjoying the company you brought there.

Hope you had a wonderful holiday season and work wasn’t too terrible this past week.

Happy New Year to you and yours!

December has been a busy one for me and for the past week I’ve been doing absolutely nothing but reading, eating, drinking, and beaching (emphasis on the drinking – WHAT? I’m on vacation!) As I type this I can hear the waves crashing against the sand – such a soothing sound. Okay, I’m done bragging.

Srsly though, 2012 brought about a University Degree, a family wedding, a cute boy, and many, many other wonderful things. But I just have this feeling 2013 is going to be a good one.

I have never been a resolution kind of gal. I figure if you want to change, then do it. Our time on this earth should not be wasted so GET TO IT. I’ve already mentioned my 1/2 marathon that I will run in May of this year, but 2013 will also bring about some travel which I’m very much looking forward to, but duh, who wouldn’t be.

Anyway, I hope your holidays were relaxing and full of fun, family, and good eats (and drinks) and that this year is even better for you than the last!

What? You thought I would avoid cliche Holiday blog post titles? I am above nothing, people.

It is no secret that I love the holidays. Honestly, I love absolutely everything about this time of year, including the busy streets and stressed out travellers at airports.

My parents have always made Christmas special for my Brothers and I. Now that we are in our 20′s we do the holidays a little differently, and by a little, I mean a lot: we head south for a much, much warmer Christmas. At first, a non-Canadian Christmas kind of threw me, but I’ve grown to love our exclusive family time in the sun and sand. I know that very soon we won’t be able to get together as easily over the holidays, which has totally changed my perspective on what Christmas is about. Since our first sunny Christmas, we have ditched the Christmas gifts and my goodness this is the most wonderful thing. No more spending money on, let’s face it, crap that we don’t need. Even if you aren’t religious and don’t celebrate a specific holiday, you can still enjoy the cozy goodness.

As we I was setting up our pint sized Christmas tree, my Mom said to me “It’s nice to see you so excited about Christmas even though we haven’t exchanged presents in years.” First I gave myself a pat on the back because duh, who wouldn’t? And then I thought, when did that transition even happen? Whenever it was, I’m okay with it. Sure, Christmas will be a little different in the future with boyfriends, girlfriends, husbands, wives, and rugrats, but for now… I’m going to enjoy my ridiculously stress-free Christmas while I can.

Thank you for your wonderful comments and ‘likes’ on my lil’ blog. I’m sure most people on my Facebook couldn’t care less about what I have to say, but I appreciate those who do.
